The fire arrow cart (or Hwacha) is a siege unit in the upcoming Stronghold Warlords game.
Description[]
The Hwacha cannon is a devastating contraption against infantry. Upon discharging, the cart releases fiery arrows in a salvo, which deal damage to units on their landing location. The projectiles bounce off structures and walls.
The fire arrow cart is created at the siege camp.
Traits[]
The Hwacha is an expensive siege unit, requiring a high amount of gold and an engineer to prepare.
As the fire arrow cart houses lots of arrows, it takes massive effort to move and the engineer cannot turn it around effectively in a small place. Although individual arrows deal small to moderate damage, they can quickly add up when fired at a single unit, and light units may end up severely weakened or outright killed from a volley. It reloads after several seconds.
The cart is a hugely effective weapon against clumped up units, and less so against armored units, however multiple carts can cause spectacular damage in enemy ranks. It is best used against stationary units, but a clever player can direct its fire just in the way of marching/rushing infantry nonetheless!
Like most massive siege engines, the fire arrow cart suffers from low mobility and no defensive capabilities. Although its hull is not easily disintegrated with projectiles, its rather long reload time severely limits its combat effectiveness when fast units attack it, and therefore requires constant support from other troops.
Tactics[]
- The fire arrow cart launches arrows in a rather high arc and in a very erratic way, which can be used to hit targets further away, even on walls!
- Target an area on the ground with multiple Hwachas to create a killing zone for advancing troops. They cannot harm your own units!
