The imperial warrior is a heavy melee unit in the upcoming Stronghold Warlords game.

Description

The Chinese warrior is an adept fighter, who does not relent in close combat. His thick armour ensures that he can face even the toughest units, and decimate them with his saber.

The imperial warrior is recruited at the barracks.

Traits

The imperial warrior is among the most expensive units, requiring both swords and armour from the armoury, as well as a decent sum of gold.

Chinese swordsmen are elite fighters, who move very slowly in their heavy outfit. However, once they reach their targets, they can dish out huge damage with their weapons. Even when surrounded, they can reliably fight their way out.

Stronger than most foot units, the swordsmen is the ideal backbone of an army moving in formation. Their durability ensures that they can always reach their destination and thus can be used in either the defense of vital points, or in the frontline during a siege.

Imperial warriors do not possess any weaknesses other than their ability to only fight in melee. While they perform superb in close combat, ranged units can slowly chip away their health with projectiles, as well as faster footmen and mounted units can keep their distance and outmaneuver them.

Tactics

• Imperial warriors are ideal frontline units and they can move to their target in a marching fashion, forcing the enemy to divert considerable forces.
• Swordsmen also make great defenders near chokes or access points, such as stairs, and the keep.
