The Iron mine is an industry building that costs 20 wood. 2 workers go there once built and one mines the ore the other carries the metal bar. Iron Bars can be used for many things and are the most expensive industry item in the game.
Uses
Needed to create swords, maces and metal armor.
Needed to create oil smelter.
Really good money maker.
Facts
Selling 5 Iron bars gets 115 gold
Buying 5 loses 225 gold
Thats a difference of 22 gold per bar.
