The Lord is the most powerful unit of all Stronghold games.

Description[]

The Lord is the most important unit in the empire. He is a glorious and noble fighter, who commands his units and manages his estates. When the need arises, the Lord is equipped with a brutal weapon to defend himself and his loyal soldiers. In Stronghold Crusader, the lord will occasionally wander to clusters of idle troops in times of peace to give emboldening, gesture-rich speeches and strike inspiring poses. When the Lord is killed, the mission is over and the player loses.

Control[]

During campaign missions in both Stronghold and Crusader, the Lord cannot be freely controlled. He may be ordered to attack any enemies accessible, but he cannot be moved over the map. In multiplayer and skirmishes, however, he may be moved. This can be useful, as the lord may seek refuge in the more powerful ally's castle (you cannot win through keep capture in SH and SHC). When selecting units through the click and drag technique, the Lord won't be included in the group of troops.

In Stronghold 2, the Lord becomes a much more important unit as a fighter. Literally, the Lord has become a powerful knight, who is the only unit to mount horses besides knights. The lord will normally remain in civilian mode where he partakes in feasts, masses, spending time with the lady or visiting the apothecary (if his health is below 50%). If the player moves the lord in any way outside of these duties, he will go into combat mode, halting all civilian activities until the return to civilian duties is clicked on.

Trivia[]

  • As a feature, the Lord can be healed in the apothecary, when he lost more than half of his health. This action is performed automatically, while he is doing his civilian duties.
  • In Stronghold Legends, the Lord retains his attributes, except for the fact that he slowly regains his health when out of combat.
