The Stable is an expensive military building that accommodates warhorses. Horses can then be used used by knights and lords, who will ride them in combat to boost movement speed. It appears in nearly all games of the Stronghold series.
Information[]
The stable is required to train knights from the barracks.
Each stable provides four horses each. When built, it starts with no horses and it slowly fills up its stocks. When a knight is recruited, one horse is permanently taken, as long as the knight remains in play.
If knights die or disband, their horse is returned to the supply after some time has passed. No knights can be trained as long as no horses are available.
Trivia[]
- If the stables catches fire, the whole building will burn, but the unused horses will remain there, seemingly undisturbed by the fire.
Stables provide war steeds for mounted combat. When built, it starts off with no horses and it slowly fills up its stocks, up to a maximum of three. In Stronghold 2, stables can supply unlimited troops.
Knights and the lord can mount horses by clicking a button, which causes a horse to come out from the stable and run to the mounting unit. This also works backwards, as after the rider dismounts, the horse will move back into its place. Riderless horses will retain their current health until remounted.
Mounted knights and the Lord gain drastically increased movement speed and reduced attack delay, making them great shock units. The horse is however very frail, dying only from a few projectiles. In melee combat, damage is spread evenly between the rider and the horse.
