The Servant is a support character in Stronghold Crusader.

Name

"The Servant" as this character's name is conjecture. In the game files, his animations are labeled "bad_soldier". The Steam trading card featuring this character is simply named "Templar". These two times are the only instances of this character being named in any way.

The Servant's sound files are labeled with the word "all" instead of using a character name, suggesting that he is meant as an all-purpose, "placeholder" character applicable to any situation during development.

Character

The Servant is an intermediate messenger that contacts the allies of a few AI characters. He is responsible for informing the human players about events related to his master, such as transmitting requests and remarks about commands and other queries in response. When faced as an enemy, the Servant hands out additional warnings after the defeat of a common enemy.

In the Historical Campaigns, the Servant is also featured as an aide to the player. He informs them about major events and gives some useful advice according to the status quo.

• The four AI characters that employ the Servant are featured in the original Stronghold: the Rat, the Snake, the Pig and the Wolf, respectively. Because none of their voice actors reappeared in the new instalment, it is likely that the character of the Servant was introduced to cover for the developers' inability to obtain new voice lines for them in an alliance with the player, something that was not possible in Stronghold 1.

• There are two sound files (all_add_player_01 and all_kick_player_01) indicating that he was supposed to be an AI opponent. His "picked" voice is heard upon winning the Stronghold Crusader first trail in the beginning.
