The thief is an infiltrator unit in Stronghold 2.
Information[]
Thieves are expensive specialist units, made for funneling gold from the enemy. The unit can be ordered to attack a treasury, who then runs up to the building and starts stealing gold from the owner. Stealing is done in chunks of 25 gold, transferring the amount immediately.
The thief's strength lies in bearing a disguise of a farmer, which makes him able to pass through enemy ranks relatively undetected, as hostile ranged and melee units will not attack them.
The 'camouflage' is retained until the thief attacks an enemy unit, or gets near a guard. Enemies clicking on the thief can also uncover him by pressing a button on the unit's command card. Discovery makes the thief reveal his true clothing and a dagger in hand, as well as it triggers an audible notification ("Guards! A thief!").
When uncovered, the thief gets into melee combat and behaves like a regular soldier. He performs very well with his short sword, but falls from a few arrow hits. Thieves cost much honor and should be used carefully.
This unit is recruited from the Mercenary Post.
